Grönstedts Noël 2012 is the seventh edition of the popular julcognacen from Grönstedts. This year’s edition contains, like previous releases from the districts Grande – and Petite Champagne but this year, it also includes components of the smaller district Borderies.

…It is in the determination of two men: Leopold Raffin in 1889, and then his son-in-law René Laclie in 1916, to always go further in the elaboration and quality of the distillation process of their eaux-de-vie, which leads Bertrand Laclie,five generation later, to embrace the same passion and to lead to the total re-positioning of the family house.

Today Maison René Laclie dedicates this passion and heritage through brands, with an international vocation.

Jewels in the Crown: Raffin, the apotheosis of hard work and paintstaking attention to detail. The rarest of old eaux-de-vie are blended with complexity and delicacy. The ideal balance between power and finesse, with hints of mocha and chocolate. At etheral, explosive bouquet, typical of the oldest Cognacs. This subble elixir boast great length on the palate, building up to a peak that reflects its long, gentle ageing.

The fruit of a blend of some 20 years old eaux-de-vie, laid down and aged for decades to reach full maturity. The bouquet reveals a wealth of caramelised peach, almond and candied fruit scents. An explosion of the senses on the palate, with rich, delicate flavours of dried fruit and smooth walnut.

The perfect blend of fruity Fins Bois with Grande Chamapagne and Petite Champagne. A decade of ageing in French oak barrels endows this Cognac with the indubitable finesse of vanilla and heady scents of summer flowers.

Léo is the Léopold Raffin Cognac VS (Very Special) in a small spray flacon. Grande Champagne is the first growing area in the Cognac with about 13,000 hectares of clay and compact chalk soil. The Grande Champagne cru is located around the town of Segonzac. It produces a very fine, high-quality Cognac. It is known as the Premier Cru du Cognac, or 1st Cru.

The Forgotten Casks Cognac

Godet Grande Champagne d’Ambleville – a rare French cognac from the family stock Godet family, for which of cognac spirits produced in a small village Ambleville and kept 30 years in oak barrels.
Cognac Godet Grande Champagne d’Ambleville has a rich amber color and exceptional fragrance with floral and vanilla notes and hints of toasted wood. The taste is well balanced, with hints of orange tree flowers, spices and leather.
This cognac is good in its purest form.

A incredible limited edition from Courvoisier created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the crowning of Napoleon as the Emperor of France on December 2nd 2004. A blend of their finest cognacs, from 1910 to more modern vintages.

Succession J.S. is part of a limited edition, and is no longer produced by Courvoisier. Today, the Succession Cognac is an important collector’s item. This blend was created for the bi-centenary of Napoleon’s crowning, as the Emperor of France at the beginning of the 19th century.The Cognac has been kept a secret for generations, hidden in a chateau’s cellar for decades. Succession JS comes in a handmade, wooden replica of the Chest of Secrets of Napoleon.

Review Notes:

Rich aromas sherry wine, some wood, leaf of Havana cigar, crème brulee, freshly roasted coffee, liquorice and hot honey. A Powerful, complex, mellow, rich and delicate taste. Finish is reminiscent of a hot and velvety fruit cake.
